Raising the bar by applying a little Bias
Bias Technology Support Ltd on Holton Heath Trading Park is a supplier and repairer of barcode equipment.
"We have sold barcode readers and mobile computers to blue-chip companies, and look after several thousand of their units," said managing director Paul Bartlett.
Bias was established when Paul Bartlett, Sean Allen and Stuart Pilkington-Way bought the assets of ITR Outsourcing in Poole, which went into liquidation in April 2008.
Paul Bartlett, who has a 50 per cent stake in the new company, says that the previous business collapsed under a pile of debt. "We pulled our belts in," he said. "We felt that if we cannot make a go of it nobody can."
And he continued: "We set our goal for the first year and we achieved this in three months."
The business, which provides brand-new and second-hand barcode equipment, now has contracts with several major blue-chip clients.
In the last 12 months, Bias, which has been awarded ISO9001 quality management accreditation, has grown from six to ten staff and is considering taking on an apprentice in the near future.
The company is still seeing an increase in business and expects to see this continue in 2010.
